Richard Seeley – Burnt Soul EP
Discolour – Out Now
You might not know the name yet, but with releases on Matt Edwards’ REK’D and VeryVeryWrongIndeed Richard Seeley has been impressing all the right people with his first productions. The man also runs his own Glue imprint and here steps out to mint another brand new label in the form of Discolour.
The first and title track is a raw tool built on loops of broken sounding kick drums and fleshed out with alien sounds, light percussive ticks and plenty of cinematic synths. It’s dark and devilish and only for those late night hours. Second track ‘Flex’ is just as prickly and static filled in its textures but the downbeat kicks here are more infectious, lifting you ever higher as they go; working you ever deeper into a trance with each rotation.
