Rock Nights (Ibiza) makes it London Debut.

Ibiza institution Rock Nights gets set to make their London debut this weekend. From its beginnings back in 2006, Rock Nights have gone on to call super club Privilege (of Manumission notoriety) their home, resulting in the night being nominated in the category Best Ibiza Party 2012 in the Vicious Music Awards. The policy is simple: Fun jacking indie/dance music for revellers who don’t take themselves too seriously. And with the likes of Peter Hook (New Order), The Glimmers, Digitalism, Alex Metric and The Horrors all making an appearance in Ibiza over the summer, the London debut is causing quite a stir.

Promoter Omar Hoxton began his party career back in New York in the early 2000’s, putting on indie and rock bands before getting a taste for electronica. This happy blend brings a diverse collaboration of indie infused dance music that is perfect for the dark streets of London. “Rock Nights is a team of seriously fun party people having a good time at an amazing venue Rattlesnake in London. We will have a lot of guests coming down to the night who have played Rock Nights in Ibiza and Underbelly in Hoxton like The Mystery Jets and The Horrors!” he tells us. Sounds like a pretty good party!

The inaugural event takes place at Angel’s Rattlesnake bar. Newly opened this summer the North London venue promises a massive liquid sound system set over 2 rooms. Its exposed brickwork and shady corners make it the perfect venue for a less then polished party-focused crowd to get their shake on.

First on the line-up and making the most of the Ibiza connection, is Colin Peters. As one of the first ever residents for the Manumission from 1998 right through to 2007 this man knows a thing or two about getting a floor going.  He has held residency at Rock Nights for the last six years, alongside playing at some of the biggest festivals on support for the likes of Metronomy and Magnetic Man – alongside appearances at the infamous Benicassim in Barcelona. His sets take in everything from synth-pop to jacking nu-disco, to indie reworks, all pulled together with vintage grimy-synth edge that’s perfect for late North London nights.

Joining Colin will be a Les Castizo’s DJ show. Pure party DJ’s in every sense of the word they take everything from old school rock to dirty house and sample, mash up and blend to create a firmly dance floor focused party mix up that’s as much glitch as it is fun. Referencing the French synth sounds of the likes of daft punk and justice, before being carved together with driving classic rock hooks, their sets are delivered in a driving club format that has to be seen to be believed.

Completing the line up is Sicarius. Originally from Paris and now living in London, Sicarius draws most of her influences from the French touch electronic movement and the indie/rock scene. However, she refuses to confine herself to one genre: she simply likes to describe her sets as dance music with a soul.

Since her DJ debut in 2009, SICARIUS has DJed at various venues around the world, before settling for a Club NME residency at Koko, in London. Her signature mix of personal indie/electro remixes and favourite party anthems has seen her share the stage with many acclaimed bands and DJs. This non-exhaustive list includes Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Ed Sheeran, Plan B, Pendulum, Chase & Status, Example, Annie Mac, Zane Lowe.

As its Halloween weekend organisers are expecting the freaks to come out, so expect a zombie disco rock apocalypse like no other! Fancy dress isn’t mandatory – but then again where’s the fun in that?

With a great launch night line up and some serious credentials on the global scene, we think you’ll be hearing a lot more from Rock Nights London…

Advance tickets are £5 – £7/£10 on the door.
