It’s a common problem in many cities. Find a venue close to the centre and before long someone, somewhere, is going to unveil development plans that may impede on our ability to get down and dirty within close proximity.
The risks of this happening are ten-fold if you decide to put on parties underneath a major train station, not least in a town that has experienced exponential upwards growth over the last two decades. As such it wasn’t too surprising when Manchester’s Warehouse Project announced a relocation from the railway hub that is Piccadilly, unique as that car park-turned-venue was.
Today the organisers have finally shared details of where the next round of shindigs will take place (kicking off over Easter weekend with the likes of John Digweed, Eric Prydz, James Zabiela, Carl Craig, Loco Dice, Heidi, Scuba, Benoit & Sergio and Joris Voorn). The new location will be a short journey from the city centre, in the borough of Trafford, within walking distance of Manchester United’s ground (Old Trafford), and a stone’s throw from a Metrolink tram stop of the same name. Plenty of signposts are promised, and there will also be free shuttle buses returning into Manchester proper for after it all gets a bit too much, full details of which are on the end of this link. Maps and lineups for the first Bank Holiday of the year are below; Sunday has already sold out, whilst tickets for Friday can be found here.
