WhoMadeWho / Inside World

Kompakt / Released December 2011
What does it sound like?
Taking their name from the 1986 AC/DC album WhoMadeWho don’t necessarily make the kind of noises you’d expect from a band paying homage to one of the biggest selling rock acts of all time. There are guitars involved, somewhere, but that’s not the focal point here.
In 2012 their sound will no doubt reach a few more ears, what with the release of Brighter, an album that follows on from 2011’s mini-LP, Knee Deep. Because if this early taster is much to go off the contents of the full length instalment proper will be nothing short of essential.
Inside World should be enough to keep us going for the time being mind. It’s a real song, realised in an electro-disco, Hot Chip crossed with Hercules & Love Affair workout, and does exactly what all that suggests with notable skill. As for the B-side’s Acoustic Version, expect something as close to unplugged as imaginable from a synth act, meaning John Grant’s vocals are overtly accentuated.
Where would I dance to it?
Trendy hangouts full of people that you wouldn’t necessarily find in just any club.
What highlights can I expect to hear?
The Original, hands down, no messing about.
Why should I pay for it?
Theft is wholly wrong, especially when the loot is this well made.
Where can I buy it?
