Quick Fire Interview – Dave Spoon

We catch up with Dave Spoon as he joins D.Ramirez and Jaguar Skills on the line-up for Toolroom Knights at Ministry of sound.

Where in the world are you right now?

I’m at home in Portsmouth, getting my Christmas on!

Which track has been the highlight of your sets this year?

Round Table Knights ‘Calypso’ has always been fun to play.. maybe KiNK’s mix of ‘Muchness’ too.. my track with Pete Tong.

Where can we find you playing this New Years Eve?

I’m lucky enough to be with the Toolroom crew at both Ministry of Sound London, then Stanford Hall in Loughborough. I’ll also be in Manchester at Venus on New Years Day.

New Years Eve always gives a DJ the chance to drop some tracks they do not usually get the chance to play, what can we expect to hear from you at Toolroom Knights?

Well I’ll be digging through the crates.. oops I mean folders on my hard-drive, and playing some biggies from the last few years. I love playing classics so there’s going to be a few surprises I can promise!

What have you got planned for 2011 (gigs / album / releases)?

My album project has taken on a life of it’s own.. I’m so excited to get it out there but it won’t be as simple as just a Dave Spoon release. It’s really rewarding to do something different and I can’t wait to share it! Aside from that there’s some great new club stuff    coming on Size & my label Televizion. I’ve signed new tracks from WAFA, Kyle Watson & Worthy to name just 3.. Exciting times.

What New Years resolution will you be making?

Many personal ones, it’s been a challenging year but aside from those.. I have to start riding my bike again. Hate the gym + love great food = gotta do something!
