Cinnamon Chasers ‘Science (Remixes Part One)’

Cinnamon Chasers / Science (Remixes Part One)

Modus Records / Released June 2011

What does it sound like?

Rolling, warm and often delicate electro isn’t the most common production ethic in 2011. But when it comes to opener Tattoo that’s a relatively apt description, only here the genre is transposed in such a way that should fit in with fans of more progressive sounds, so expect white noise crescendos, glittering keyboards and more than a hint of the 80s, in both the Original Album version, and clubbier Retro 909 edit.

A startling eight tracks are offered here, making the package a veritably treat for fans. Alongside the aforementioned we also get a taste of vocoder’d lyrics via Smooth Station, and its more pulsating, tougher Deep Electric Dub, opting for a firm, tech low end and hooked vocals in the latter. Then there’s dreamlike innocence and pop-infused key changes in the Floating Pod Version of One Million Balloons (think SCSI-9 circa 2005, only less subtle), and plucked notes all over Magic Lover‘s Electric Version, both of which are preceded by their source material.

Where would I dance to it?

Venues soundtracked by wider electronica but focused on clubbing should be a safe bet.

What highlights can I expect to hear?

Tattoo‘s 909 Version is electro on a techno edged trance tip, make sure you pay it due attention.

Why should I pay for it?

With two shy of ten tracks offered there’s something for different ears.

Where can I buy it?
