Dennis Ferrer – The Red Room by Objektivity
Dennis Ferrer needs no introduction. An icon in both the house and techno communities his roots run deep across the spectrum of electronic music. What we have heard from Dennis over the years since his early releases on Synewave to Madhouse, Large Records, King Street, Defected and Objektivity is a portrait of Dennis’s musical evolution. “The Red Room” marks Ferrer’s followup to the 2010 global anthem “Hey Hey” and has received accolades from top DJ’s around the world, including Pete Tong who played an unsolicited MP3 three times at the beginning of the summer on his Essential Selection radio show.
The unique vocal was cut during a wild studio session where the vocalist repeated one of the lines “Welcome to the Red Room Honey” which after some editing became the hook of the tune.
Red Room is out now on Objektivity with remixes from Detroit newcomer Kyle Hall who at a mere 19 years old has released on labels such as Warp, Hyperdub and FXHE. Ferrer’s proteges The Martinez Brothers collaborate with his former production partner, Ibadan’s Jerome Sydenham delivering a throbbing tech house dub.
