Behind The Scenes Of Elboy80 & Melodic Jaye’s ‘Resurgence EP’
Since exploding onto the Dance music scene, London based DJ production pair ELboy80 & Melodic Jaye have been gathering huge momentum and turning heads worldwide, thanks to their unique blend of Techno and House sounds. Armed with their infectious records that includes hits such as ‘The Equalizer’ and ‘Soul Intrusion’, they made the bold decision to merge their highly successful solo careers, which highlights included supporting A-List stars such as Darius Syrossian and Dale Howard in the some of the UK’s most renowned venues – a move that has already paid off.
Their latest release came in the form of ‘Resurgence EP’, a two-track EP that was released on Blow The Roof Records and gained the support of industry heavyweights such as Todd Terry, Cristian Varela, Shiba San, Benny Camaro and Vanilla Ace. We jumped at the opportunity to sit down with ELboy80 & Melodic Jaye to talk about the EP.
Hi guys, thanks for taking time to answer these few questions. For those who aren’t familiar with you, can you describe a typical ELboy80 & Melodic Jaye track using only five words?
Natural, Deep, Progressive, Electronic, Rhythmic sounds.
You have recently just released your newest EP ‘Resurgence EP’. How did the idea for the EP come about?
The name Resurgence derived from our rebirth as a duo. With this EP we wanted to signify the sound that best represents what we are about to unleash onto the industry, so fans know what to expect from us. So far it all seems to be going as planned.
‘Resurgence EP’ was released by UK based imprint Blow The Roof Records. Can you tell us a bit about why you decided to release the track on Blow The Roof?
Firstly, we appreciate the interest Blow the Roof Records have shown towards our music and can’t thank them enough for welcoming us into their family. They are an innovative global label with a wide range of talent that is guided by a strong visionary and hard working label boss – Dan York. Deciding to release this EP with Blow the Roof Records was an easy decision based on the above as well as the element of freedom that we still have, which a lot of other labels try to take away from their artists. We hope to release more music with Blow The Roof Records in the very near future.
The track has already gained a lot of widespread press support. How does it make you feel with the press support your record? Can you name drop a few DJs that have thrown their support behind the release?
We are very excited but humble and extremely proud to have both our feet in the music industry. We know how important press support is for our growth and extremely overwhelmed with the level of feedback we have been receiving towards our music with due thanks to our manager Jamie at Matt Cladwell PR. We’re extremely honoured and overwhelmed to have great names such as Todd Terry, Cristian Varela, Shiba San, Benny Camaro and Vanilla Ace giving their backing and support towards our 1st EP, as well as close friends and associates who have supported our sound from the beginning.
Do you mix and master your own productions or do you get help from an engineer?
We mixdown our own tracks and have a professional sound engineer master them to perfection.
How long did it take to produce the EP?
The Resurgence EP is taken from a catalogue of music we’ve been making over the last year. Not much time was spent on enhancing the quality of the tracks to industry standard due to our robust trust worthy workflow. All in all we would say the 3 tracks took 48 working hours to complete.
Will you be doing a video production walkthrough of the EP?
Currently we have a few projects that we are working on which is currently taking most of our time, but if we can get this completed quickly and efficiently then we would defiantly consider it.
Where did you get your inspiration from when producing the track?
The inspiration for this EP came from 80’s Acid/Techno sound. We added our melodic twist as it is the main aspect of what ‘ELboy80 & Melodic Jaye’ is all about. We are very much inspired by a lot of music of different genres, especially from the 80s as it was a great time to be alive due to the growing popularity of electronic music.
Can we expect a follow up to ‘Resurgence EP’ in a similar style?
Most definitely, there are other releases that we are going to unleash which will show a diversity of our music, but generally our formula will be the same.
What can we expect in terms of future releases and plans from ELboy80 & Melodic Jaye
We are currently working on a couple of EPs which will be released before the end of the year. The next release to come will be ‘Outbreak EP’, followed by ‘Halloween EP’, which we may release as a free download for our loyal followers.
