A few weeks ago we bought you the news of the massive eastern electrics May Bank Holiday party, and now the rather tasty line-up has been revealed!
Announcing the first names on the lineup, eastern electrics do not disappoint. mulletover bring DJ Koze – and a relentless four-hour set – to the plate, while Bloc present James Holden and Martyn, and for their first eastern electrics event Deviation add Loefah and Braiden to the mix. It’s going to be big!
eastern electrics is one of London’s favourite parties, delivering unrivalled lineups and unmissable events three times a year. Last year’s August Bank Holiday and Back to the Tunnels NYE events were sold out weeks in advance, and the likes of Matthew Dear, Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler, Joker, Steve Bug, Justin Martin, Kode 9 and Plastician have all played a part in making eastern electrics such a massive success. Their focus is on bringing together some of the finest emerging talent in electronic music – and making one hell of a noise.
mulletover
Celebrating seven years at the forefront of the capital’s party scene, mulletover keeps getting better. This May, Room 1 brings the noise with a four-hour marathon set from Hamburg legend DJ Koze.
Famed for his minimal house sets, as well as his genre-splitting production, the diverse and unique DJ Koze owns the dancefloor wherever he goes. He was part of Fischmob in the mid-’90s, an influential band within Germany’s evolutionary hip hop scene; then came the legendary Hamburg trio International Pony, whose critically acclaimed shows are still celebrated for their dynamic and intelligent programming; and as Adolf Noise he really explored his experimentalist style. Now DJ Koze’s wide-ranging, ambient sets demonstrate exactly how proper techno and house music should be presented.
bloc.
They’re launching the festival season in March, but don’t expect the Bloc boys to be resting on their laurels; they’re bringing James Holden and Martyn to the fold.
Forward-thinking record label boss, eclectic remixer, producer and in-demand DJ – James Holden is electronic music’s very own superhero. He thrives on presenting the very best in genre-bending sounds, and young production talent. His free-spirited ethos means this artist is impossible to pigeonhole.
A DJ and producer whose sound is synonymous with cutting-edge dubstep, Martyn brings an artistic flair to his sets. His own love for Detroit techno, Chicago house and hip hop are audible throughout – as is his passion for drum’n’bass. This forward-thinking dub pioneer brings a considered and honest approach to his DJ sets – it’s all about the atmosphere for Martyn.
Deviation.
And finally, newcomers to eastern electrics, Benji B’s London monthly Deviation are jumping in at the deep end of bass, presenting Loefah and Braiden in Room 3.
One third of DMZ, alongside Mala and Coki, and label boss of Swamp81, Loefah is a heavy hitter within the bass and dubstep scenes. Maintaining underground credibility, while pushing the sound forward, Loefah’s production is innovative and influential.
