With the nights getting lighter, we’re all longing for the return of long summer evenings and of partying in the sunshine. And that feeling becomes ever more consuming as we start getting news of all the summer festival line ups. This time round its Rob Da Banks super friendly Bestival offshoot Camp Bestival that’s making us long for summer to, well, just bloody hurry up.
Camp Bestival is the family-friendly little sister of Bestival, and was voted best family festival in last year’s UK festival awards alongside, Bestival winning overall best festival, so it’s fair to say the organisers know a thing or two about what goes in to making a winning weekend. Returning to Lulworth Castle, Dorset, for the fourth year from July 28th to 31st, Camp Bestival promises to blur the lines between “between the Great British summer holiday and a fun-filled festival frolic.”
Topping the bill on Friday night is the legendary Blondie, with an almost endless canon of chart storming hits including ‘Rapture’, ‘Hanging on the Telephone’, ‘Heart of Glass’ and ‘Maria’ spanning their 30 year career they are set to make this a festival highlight for 2011. Mark Ronson and The Business Intl will be headlining on the Saturday, with another headliner still to be announced for the Sunday.
The support line-up is also pretty spectacular, with an eclectic mix which features everyone from House of Pain to Beardyman, to Ms Dynamite, Fenech-Soler and Katy B, all playing live. The DJ offering is non to shabby either with Krafty Kuts, DJ Yoda, The Nextmen, Norman Jay and London Elektricity on hand to lay down the beats.
But do remember this is a family orientated affair, so if you’re one of those muso’s who wants to get the kids involved early then you’ll be pleased to hear there are festival exclusives form the Gruffalo and Mr Tumble!
