Exclusive Interview: Arek & Mika’s 2016 Year Review
We caught up with dynamic duo Arek & Mika who tells us all about their 2016!
Can you sum up 2016 in three words?
Of course we can – improvement, work, groove!
What’s been your favourite moment of 2016?
Our demo submissions had been getting rejections but Housepital seen our potential and gave us our first release. We went crazy when we received their email and started to shout and laugh in Starbucks – it was awesome!
Can you tell us a bit about your releases from this year?
We just had the one release this year. 2016 was the start of Arek & Mika and we have a lot more new music and gigs coming in 2017.
How has touring and gigging been for you?
We just had local gigs and events this year. Hopefully 2017 will bring us worldwide gigs.
What’s been your biggest achievement of the year?
Actually the biggest achievement was the improvement of our sound and us as an artist. To see our sound development and getting our records on iTunes, Spotify and Beatport was immense.
What’s been your favourite track of 2016?
This is a challenging question for us since there are a lot of great tracks but ‘The Magician feat. Brayton Bowman – SHY (CID Remix)’ was the strongest one for us. It has been in our record box since its release.
Who has been the standout artist of 2016 in your opinion?
We think it is obvious – Kryder was very successful. Great tracks, great vibes and a new label (Cartel Reordings), as well as developing Sosumi Records.
What does 2017 hold for you?
2016 was the beginning, 2017 is going to be the actual game for us. We will work hard to achieve our sound and dreams. We emphasized on it before. You will see a lot more of us!
