Exclusive Interview: Nurii’s 2016 Year Review

Nurii

We caught up with high-flying Kenyan Nurii who tells us all about his 2016!

Can you sum up 2016 in three words?
A new experience.

What’s been your favourite moment of 2016?
I’ve had the opportunity to get my tracks heard by a lot of people, and when you get your track played at a big music festival like Ultra, it just adds to the job of producing.

Can you tell us a bit about your releases from this year?
I’ve worked really hard this year to polish up my productions and take them up a level from last year. I think if you’ve been following me since I started, you’ll say I’ve accomplished this for sure!

How has touring and gigging been for you?
I haven’t begun touring yet, looking forward to this in 2017.

What’s been your biggest achievement of the year?
Cedric Gervais playing my track ‘Alpha’ at UMF 2016.

What’s been your favourite track of 2016?
My favourite track of 2016 was ‘Devotion’ which featured the vocals of Marcello. I just loved how much support it got from everybody, and it has these powerful vocals that drove so much emotion into the track.

Who has been the standout artist of 2016 in your opinion?
I think Suyano has been really good this year, some good, quality releases on Revealed Recordings.

What does 2017 hold for you?
Well, it’s hard to say, but I love what I do, and I’m just going to keep doing it!
