Jammy’s Jaunts: 20.04 – 22.04: Fabric & Jaded

Jaunt  (jônt, jänt)

n. A short trip or excursion, usually for pleasure; an outing

Plain and Simple’s roving reporter/man about town and clubbing addict Jammy brings you his eye view of the events he was shuffling at in the last week…  This time he spent his jaunt watching OVR at Fabric followed by his weekly instalment of Jaded’s after-hours madness…

So, welcome to the 1st instalment of Jammy’s Jaunts! A weekly roundup of my weekend’s proceedings. This weekend started off at Fabric in London. I went to especially see OVR (live) and Peter Van Hoesen as well as celebrate a friends’ birthday. Night didn’t start off very busy in Room 2 where they played, but the club filled VERY quickly! The set times were: Peter Van Hoesen 12.30 – 3 and OVR 3 – 4. The resident Terry Francis closed from 4 – 6.30. PVH’s set was explosive to say the least. Really went in hard from the start and he didn’t relent! He played on Ableton and this was a DJ set. The last time I saw him was at the Blueprint Records showcase last year where he played a live set. He dropped many classics such as Flash – Green Velvet and Bassline – Kevin Saunderson. He also included a reedited version of Spastik which set the crowd wild. The follow up to this was the live set by OVR which many people were waiting for and by then Fabric’s room 2 was completely full.

OVR James Ruskin & Karl O’Connor) were the act that most people were waiting for and they didn’t disappoint! Their live set was only an hour and was excellently constructed of heavy rolling basslines which was a pleasure to hear. With live sets a lot of their equipment was already set up and the thought and precision of their live set was very clear to see. First time for me too, that I saw them perform, so I was really pleased by what I heard. After was Terry Francis who closed who finished with a typical closing set from the resident himself. By then I was ready to leave for the Jaded afterparty.

Usually my night/morning usually ends at Jaded and this one was truly special one! Originally billed as MANDY performing and then pulling out at the last minute, this one really pulled the stops and it showed. It was a resident’s performance with Canary Fontaine, Raymundo Rodriguez, Alex Cliche and Unai Trotti and the 1st year anniversary of Chris Stanford playing at Jaded. Both rooms were booming with music and it was extremely hard to go between the two, such was the standard of music being played! A perfect to way to end a spectacular weekend! 
