Creamfields announces 2012 line up

These days you can’t move for electronic focused festivals, both here in the UK and over on that there European continent. But we remember a simpler time when everyone had a far quieter summer schedule, and only one (legal) rave was staged inside a British field using enormous tents.

That party was, of course, Creamfields, which kicked off in Winchester back in the heady August of 1998, with Primal Scream, Daft Punk, Sasha, and Run DMC amongst the headliners of what was then a one day binge. The event has since moved locations twice (first to parent club Cream’s spiritual Liverpool home, then on to the noticably less urban locale of Daresbury in Cheshire), but the idea has remained the same.

As such despite the scores of potential dates competing for a spot in each year’s diary the line up announcement for this particular bash is always big news. It is, after all, the UK’s longest running, large scale, summertime dance celebration. 2012’s session, which takes up three mammoth days, is certainly no different, with plenty of eyes taking interest in the first wave of names, revealed by organisers today.

So between Friday August 24th and Sunday August 26th those with a ticket to Creamfields 2012 (£135 for three days including camping) can catch the likes of Eric Prydz, John Digweed, Scuba, Maya Jane Coles, Pete Tong, Skrillex, Annie Mac, Erol Alkan, Eddie Halliwell, Sander Van Doorn, Kissy Sell Out, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Groove Armada, Sub Focus, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, James Zabiela, and Hernan Cattaneo… names which appear here in no particular order whatsoever, but can be perused with more details on the end of this link. All of which looks quite impressive, though it’s unclear if everyone will be happy about the all-silent disco Friday night hosted by That Mixmag Thing!, UNION, and Riva Starr’s Snatch! Some things certainly do change then…
