Uber on fire for November.

Now we know we are very London-centric here at Plain and Simple, but in the interest of not alienating our northern friends we thought we’d bering this event to your attention. Uber’s 5th birthday party has a guestlist to die for, with the Friendly Fires (DJ set), Riva Starr and Krysko coming for a slice of the cake in The Melting Pot on Saturday, November 19th.

One top performer is no longer enough as Uber gets older and wiser.  Last time it was Josh Wink, Mark Knight and The Revenge on the same bill; and now it’s two DJs that have already rocked it for Uber in the past, joined for the very first time by an act nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the Brit Awards.

The Friendly Fires come hot off the back of another brilliant year that saw them release their second album, Pala, and complete a massive tour that saw them tear up the likes of Glastonbury.

Their mix CD on Berlin’s prestigious K7 Records put them firmly on the map as a DJing force, traversing a wide range of genres from Disco to Tech house.

Riva Starr continues to conquer the world with his signature brand of mashed up funky madness.  No ye olde genre is safe from the Riva treatment – he has sampled anything from Latin to Balkan to Charleston – and his label Snatch Recordings has helped propel him to global stardom.  Don’t forget that earlier this year he did the live mix on Annie Mac’s Mash Up before his legendary set at Uber’s Radio Big Weekender after party.

Palooza take charge of the middle room, which will see Krysko make a welcome return to Carlisle, having pulled up quite a few trees since his last set here.  The man behind Manchester’s world famous Warehouse Project has been busy attracting some of the biggest names in the business to the north west, but he has taken time out to come up and deliver his trademark jackin’ beats.

The bumper line up is completed by Adam Bradley (Homegrown Music), Ginny Koppenhol, We Take Polaroids, Ki Creighton, Lee Clark and Jamie G.

Uber promoter Matthew Tyson said: “It’s great to bring someone as universally popular as The Friendly Fires to the club – it’s an act we’ve been chasing for ages and to get them for the 5th Birthday its huge for us. We expect to see a lot of new faces at Uber for this one.”
