Britain’s most discerning bass-fuelled weekender has announced today sad news, for those without tickets. Because an unprecedented six weeks before the event takes over a certain holiday park, in a certain Somerset seaside town, all chalets, apartments and spare floor space has been taken.
We’ve been keeping an eye on BLOC this year as the festival’s fifth birthday approaches, making many people pretty eager to join in the celebrations. In the last two years alone we’ve been steamed out by Adam Beyer at 6am, spooked out by an audio-visual Surgeon on top form, caught Martyn and Kode 9 engaging in a turntable-off, been saved by the vocal electro-filth of Green Velvet, and played plenty of ten pin bowling games.
This year’s lineup features, as you should well know by now, Aphex Twin, Laurent Garnier, Four Tet, Modeselektor, Seth Troxler, and more names than we need to mention here. Which means it’s looking likely March 11th – 13th will be memorable as ever, and not just because of the TV channel, dedicated to increasingly surreal programming, that’s piped into your accommodation. Be warned, if you are going down, just turn the picture off the moment the party starts and save yourselves the confusion.
