Bestival reveal first wave of headliners.

Bestival announce headliners.

After cleaning up at this year’s UK festival awards, as featured here, Bestival have now announced the first wave of acts for 2011.

It looks set to be another good stellar year for what is now one of the leading festivals in the UK, and its heavyweight status is confirmed with the first trickle of musical goodness to be released by Sunday Best. For all time ‘I was there epic-ness’ you can catch The Cure, and Primal Scream Present Screamadelica, assuring that  there realty are some not to be missed musical moments.

A gleeful Rob da Bank says: ‘I’ve spent the last twenty years of my life listening to The Cure and the last five attempting to persuade Robert Smith and the crew to hop on a ferry to our magical Isle. I’m still not sure what we’ve done right but I’m overjoyed that they are coming as Saturday night headliners. Few bands have had such a massive impact on my life (and hairstyles) so I’ll see you down the front!’

Add to that Magnetic Man, DJ Shadow, Norman Jay, Grandmaster Flash, LFO (really!) Boyz Noize, Diplo and the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (trust me, I saw these at the Big Chill a few years back after a heavy night of drum and bass and they made me grin from ear to ear!), an up for it crowd and ground-breaking production values, and you have a festival that whole heartily deserves all the press accolades consistently laid on it.

We’ll of course keep you posted as news develops.
