CaféMAMBO presents Mambo In The Mix

ARMINVANBUUREN_CARLCOX copyFor almost two decades, Café Mambo has reigned supreme as THE place to party on Sant Antonio’s sunset strip, Ibiza. This solid reputation has been  forged via legendary guest DJs; quality service; and the world famous sunset.

The outdoor area hosts around 15,000 passers-by in a Summer. I was lucky enough to experience two full seasons on the Island, and during that time spent many a’ Mambo sunset gently weeping/laughing into a jug of sangria; trapped in a perpetual state of ecstasy induced delirium. Good times, I assure you.

This year the iconic café is once again joining forces with the Red Cross in Ibiza and Formentera, staging the second Mambo In The Mix event.  This charity soiree provides a unique opportunity for DJs who’ve successfully forged their careers in Ibiza, to collectively give something back to the Islands’ less fortunate communities.

It’s interesting to know that beneath the sparkly facade, and despite of the Islands massive tourist industry, much of the population live in poverty. The International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Half Moon have won the Principe De Asturias prize in recognition for its work with children, women, the elderly, the unemployed and the homeless. Cafe Mambo have chosen to contribute directly to this cause and help the people of Ibiza and Formentera with the ‘Now + Than Ever’ project.

Rolling with a ‘mix it up’ theme, 2012 saw some of the world’s biggest DJs mixing drinks behind the bar. The public then took to the decks to mix the beats; many of whom received coaching from the A-list names present in exchange for a charitable donation. The venue raised an incredible 31,000 Euros on the night.

Last year’s line-up included Judge Jules, Eric Prydz, Roger Sanchez, Hernan Cattaneo, Nervo, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Cassius, M.A.N.D.Y, Funkagenda, Woody Van Eyden and Mark Fanciulli. Taking part on Thursday 19th September, this years dream team will be just as awesome.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood, this event promises entertainment and warm, fuzzy charitable feelings in equal measure. For those who are unable to make it, as of Monday 19th August, you can donate at https://www.cruzroja.es/mambointhemix, and links posted through the Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/mamboibiza and Twitter account @mamboibiza. All proceeds from the party will be given to the Red Cross (Cruz Roja Ibiza) http://www.cruzroja.es.
