Figueroa & Obando – Hip Not Hipster
New labels are numerous in the digital world but one that has stuck itself out from the crowd is Unike Muzik with previous records from Markus Homm and Carlos Sanchez helping to set that great agenda so far. This new EP from South American duo Figueroa & Obando plus remixes from Russian Tripmastaz and Miguel Lobo & Larry Peters keeps them firmly on the right track.
Hubbles is Back goes first and is liquid flow of deep and moody house music that really permeates your mind body and soul and stays with you. The sounds are fresh, the arrangement tight and tech house never sounded so good. Hip Not Hipster is then deep, purposeful but also languid and inviting. Bells and melodies light up the space above the beats and bring real musicality before Timelapse is then more of a drum led track with silvery hits and hats tumbling along in style. There’s plenty of meat in the remixes too, from Miguel Lobo & Larry Peters who weave together tons of tight loops to Tripmastaz’s ‘Plant 74 Dub’ remix of Mango Moose which is a very fluid, gliding remix that recalls classic garage shuffle, this is a fine package with something for everyone.
