Since their arrival in late 2010, independent record label and promoter Audio Doughnuts have cemented their status as credible champions of forward-thinking and progressive electronic music. Through their unpretentious parties and carefully judged releases, Audio Doughnuts have become a vital cog in the underground dance music machine and in celebration of their second successful year, will be throwing a special party on Friday 30th November.
Taking place as part of South London residency The Upfront Project, the mammoth line- up includes Chicago house veterans Roy Davis Jr & Marshall Jefferson, Detroit’s Marc Kinchen alias MK, UK garage pioneer Zed Bias, Aus Music’s Will Saul, Brownswood signing Anushka, Leon Vynehall, Funkysteps, Two Inch Punch, Shox and Salva, to name a few. Intent on reflecting the collective’s eclectic taste, the bookings also echo 30 years of electronic music, with legendary DJs sitting alongside new blood. The Audio Doughnuts imprint will also be represented by Benin City, Onoe Caponoe and Pusherman who have all successfully released through the label this year.
Taking place across south London venues Fire and The Lightbox, the anniversary will be part of The Upfront Project, a weekly residency that plays home to all flavours of the electronic spectrum. Home to the world’s only wrap around wall-to-wall state of the art LED light system, as well as powerful soundsystems and mirror arches, the venue will provide the perfect backdrop for the Audio Doughnuts takeover.
Audio Doughnuts’ promoter credentials are second to none having played host to a plethora of electronic talent throughout their two year expansion, and have seen the likes of Pinch, Boddika, Ben UFO, Fantastic Mr Fox, Scratcha DVA, Jamie XX & Joy Orbison pass through their unique parties. Their first anniversary was celebrated with an all-encompassing line-up including maximalist dance enthusiast Rustie, who went onto win The Guardian’s ‘First Album’ award in February 2012.
Armed with a unique and bold line-up for 2012, Audio Doughnuts’ Second Birthday is set to establish the label and night as a credible and reliable mainstay in the burgeoning electronic scene.
