2020Vision Parties with Maya Jane Coles, Crazy P, Ralph Lawson and more

This autumn sees 2020Vision return to their home turf of Leeds with a stunning selection of artists. Topping the bill and performing in room 1 is the lady of the moment Maya Jane Coles. The last 18 months have seen Maya blow everyone away with her sublime house music productions, live band She Is Danger and her dub sided project Nocturnal Sunshine. The excitement everywhere grows with every gig she plays and this is no flash in the pan house act, but a lady of depth, talent and conviction, as such it’s a pleasure to have Maya back performing with us. Intuitive 2020Vison label founder Ralph Lawson of BacktoBasics, 2020Soundsystem and Fabric 33 fame also heads up the show, alongside Simon Baker who recently released his debut long player on the label, and label resident Danny Raper.

Room 2 brings together the finest disco band in the business in Crazy P (DJ set), alongside 2020 new signings and Hot Creations favourites PBR Streetgang. Crazy P have been releasing sublime records for years and 2011 saw their 5th artist album ‘When We On’ claim the best selling dance iTunes dance album of the year accolade. PBR, aka Tom Thorpe and Bona Bradberry, are responsible for putting on some of Leeds’ biggest and best ever parties, their Technique and Asylum events now being stuff of legends. Finally in support we turn to Death on the Balcony, who’s sound ranges from disco to deep house, to house and deep techno.

2020Vision started in Leeds in 1994 as an independent record label and now has over 250 releases to it’s name. The label has helped put Leeds on the international music map with it’s consistently high quality output – Stacey Pullen, Chez Damier, Greg Wilson, Motor City Drum Ensemble, 2020Soundsystem, Paul Woolford, DJ T, Ivan Smagghe, Audiojack and many others have all graced the imprint but they have one our strongest ever line ups out on parade for October 20th. For the past two years 2020 have been rocking London with shows in warehouses, film studios, roof tops and even a disused train station as well as showcasing events in Barcelona, Berlin, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many others, and now feel it is the time to return home to spread the love in Leeds.
They have been holding off for a long time until they found the right venue in the city, and with the opening of the superb new art and music space Canal Mills we knew we had found a great place to start. This venue transports Leeds into the Premier League for cool spaces complete with art installations and massive video walls- and we’ve heard nothing but good things.
THIS Saturday 20th October | 11pm-5am
