What does it sound like?
“Do you know what that is? That’s a fucking tuba.” That sample isn’t the only reason why this latest cut from Darius Syrossian, here releasing on Canadian imprint Mile End, will bring a smile to your face.
Nor are the merits purely based on the title track’s timeless house workout, brass, horns, and a rather addictive jacking groove that barely lets up, though these are obviously pleasing attributes. Because also included are 1994 Session, an acid-driven number that’s notably tougher but no less filthy, and its Butler & Murt remix, which offers up immersive, synthy deep tech tones that certainly don’t sound throwaway. All good then.
What highlights can I expect to hear?
For its unarguable ability to fill a floor with lunging bodies the sample-utilising My Side Project probably wins out.
