V-Festival has typically remained one of the more pop-based festivals in the UK and in 2012 it continues this tradition. To its credit, V Festival caters to the annual sell-out crowd without much diversion; a crowd-pleasing festival if ever there was one. This year the lineup is perhaps a little unimaginative but still packs a punch with a vast lineup of popular chart acts.
This year’s lineup does seem somewhat of a recycled V Festival with regards to the headline slots with The Killers appearing for a 4th year and Snow Patrol for a 5th, with The Stone Roses being one of the only V Festival virgins in 2012.
The usual festival suspects will be in attendance; Nicki Minaj, Nero, David Guetta Dappy, Ed Sheeran, Example, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Friendly Fires, Labrinth, Professor Green, Olly Murs Rizzle Kicks, The Ting Tings, Tinie Tempah etc.
There are a handful of welcome surprises in the lineup, including Spanish guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela, old school crooner Tom Jones, regular Kanye West and Odd Future collaborator Frank Ocean and two festival favourites Madness and the Happy Mondays.
