Airbound Weekender.

This Easter, April 6th – 8th, the Airbound crew return to London to throw another mammoth weekend long party. Already into its third year, the Airbound weekender will have a bigger capacityand a bolder line-up this year with some internationally acclaimed acts along side some of the finest upcoming producers and DJs that Ireland and the UK have to offer.

Airbound is a partnership between two of Ireland’s premier electronic music promoters, Bodytonic and Nightflight. It started out as a three-day festival in a sleepy fishing village in Croatia back in 2009. Since then the Airbound team have built up a very successful annual event in London, which has sold out in advance for the last two years. This year will see them host their largest event to date in London, having been scaled up to accommodate a larger audience. It will be spread over three days and across a number of London venues.

It all kicks off on Good Friday, April 6th, with a boat party on the river Thames. After the boat party, the festivities will move to Corsica Studios (home of the cult weekly Ustream, The Boiler Room), until the early morning. For those with wind still in their sails, there will be an early morning wind down session with more post-boat shenanigans taking place in a secret location. Finally, rounding off the weekend, the Airbound crew will host their very own ‘Resurrection’ on Easter Sunday for those who have recovered in time. It will be a mellow affair with soothing sounds and good wholesome food available to help gather mind, body and soul back together.

Topping the bill at this year’s Airbound is legendary Londoner DMX Krew. Ed DMX has been producing records since 1995 and a great testament to his production skills lies in the fact that he has released five albums on Aphex Twin’s label, Rephlex. His production style sounds as fresh today as it did in the mid 90’s when he started out. Joining him on the bill is house music hero Neville Watson. A record shop owner in the heady 90s, Watson’s profile has been on the up recently through his production work with Bulgarian maestro KiNK. He has both a solo and a joint album with KiNK due out this year, which will undoubtedly see him become more in demand.

Modern disco pioneer, Daniel Wang, will play his first show in London for over 12 months, at Airbound. His roundbreak-ing releases on his own Balihu label and on Metro Area’s Environ imprint have made Wang a cult hero for DJ’s and producers alike. Irish producer, Krystal Klear will feature alongside Daniel Wang in the party room. Joining the dots between disco, hip-hop, boogie, and classic house, Krystal Klear offers a fresh perspective to electronic music with his unique style. Having blown up last year following the release of “Tried for Love”, 2012 with some killer tracks due for release on a number of labels, like All City and Eglo Records.
