Free Anomie Belle track with Sneaker Pimps’ Ian Pickering

Now there’s a name you may not have heard of in a while, immediately after one you may not have heard of yet. As such let’s recap.

Seattle’s Anomie Belle doesn’t follow in the footsteps of the city’s legendary grunge past, but she does make dark, mildly-hallucinatory and wholly engrossing music that borders on trip hop. Which is why it makes sense the US songstress has been working with Ian Pickering of Sneaker Pimps fame, amongst other folk, a crew that emerged circa 1994 as part of the then-burgeoning downbeat underground, and will forever be remembered for work like 6 Underground and, of course, Spin Spin Sugar (not least thanks to Armand’s Dark Garage Mix).

The release in question is the Machine EP, which will drop on December 12th. The disc includes Slither, the collaboration with Pickering available for free download at the bottom of this paragraph, the title track which was included on Ms Belle’s recent album, The Crush, and features Mr. Lif, better known within the context of The Perceptionists and Thievery Corporation, along with three remixes of additional tunes from the same LP, with added production work coming from Big Spider’s Back, Other Lovers, and Tapage. And that’s not all, as we’ve also embedded the video for the single, along with some nostalgia at the bottom of this page.
