Get ready for a momentous weekend at Ministry as the birthday celebrations commence!

For two decades, Elephant & Castle has been the landmark for the world’s most famous nightclub, Ministry of Sound and to celebrate its 20th year the venue opens its doors for three nights, over one weekend to bring you the three generations of house music that have kept it alive for the past 20 years. Commencing on Friday 16th September, the club will embark on a journey of trance, techno and house bringing together the artists that have shaped the scene with a helping hand from a few new faces that will be fronting the next 20 years.

The Gallery launch the Twenty weekend on Friday 16th September with a main room melange of trance heroes. Taking control of the Box will be regular resident Eddie Halliwell, the 2010 nominated ‘Greatest DJ of All Time’ who has headlined every club, city and festival all over the world. Joining him on this occasion will be Sean Tyas and two artists who have previously been handpicked by Ferry Corsten, Sied Van Riel and Jochen Miller. In the 103, the second room gets retrospective with a helping hand from Danny Rampling and X-press 2.

Saturday Sessions has been the foundation of the club for the last few years bringing in new talent along with the most profound artists in the scene. From Deadmau5, Mark Knight, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin through to Roger Sanchez, laidback Luke and Afrojack the ever growing roster has brought tech-house to thousands of peoples ears every weekend. It wouldn’t be a proper celebration without welcoming back a few friends so in honour of 20 years, Saturday 17th September brings Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer and Matthias Tanzmann back to the Box. Although all three have been pioneers of the scene for the last decade or so, they have remained at the forefront with their epic productions and enthusiasm behind the decks making them three of the most popular acts in house & techno. It would be unforgivable not to involve the residents on the birthday celebrations, so without the slightest bit of hesitation MOS knew that Joe & Will would be the perfect add to the mix for the 103. Hosting a full Vikings takeover the pair renowned for enchanting anyone that has been to their nights purely down to their energy and tune selection, Joe and Will Ask play alongside Burns and Da da Life.  The club rarely gets the chance to turn its outdoor space into a full grown third room, so this is the mark of something very special as DJ Mag join in the fun to host the TWENTY Terrace, with special guests soon to be announced.

Tailing off the weekend with one superb and significant line- up, the final night signs off with the roots that made the club what it is today. Celebrating real house music and all that it still stands for, ’20 Years of House Music’ brings together one of the most interesting line- ups of 2011. Quite possibly the last time that you will see all three house heads play together, Sunday 18th September presents CJ Mackintosh, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales all in the same room for the first time in years. Whether you call them pioneers, inventors or just damn good dj’s they sculpted the scene and still are to this day.  This night is all about the friends of the club, so the doors open to regulars, past clubbers and anyone with an appreciation of house as an art form. With Farley & Heller plus Claudio Coccoluto also added to the bill.

Plain and Simple would like to take this opportunity to wish all our friends at Ministry a very very happy birthday…
