What does it sound like?
Slam follow up their Drumcode release from earlier this year and again get our heads bobbing with another two doses of classic techno for the Swedish imprint. The A-side, AKA Area 51, is a clean, rolling, synth-horn led assault of crystallised hi-hats and half breakdowns that’s essential for anyone after continual releases of crescendo created tension. Over on the other side Distant Voice is an altogether more edgy affair, built on the back of a dubbed piano bassline and coming complete with vocal hooks and relentless tracking chords. It’s great, though not easy to describe.

What highlights can I expect to hear?
Slightly more progressive in its ethic, Area 51 rightly takes the lead, creating that most useful of tracks- both engaging and powerful, but not too big.
Why should I pay for it?
Quality needs recognition.
