I:Cube ready for intimate London gig

Let’s glance back to roughly 1996, at which point a burgeoning Parisian electronic scene was the toast of tune town. There was, of course, Messrs de Homem-Christo and Bangaltar, A.K.A. Daft Punk, and the seductively sweet sounds of Air. At the same time, just a small step away from the incendiary limelight of a star hungry mainstream music press, there was Nicolas Chaix.

But we probably don’t need to carry on with the usual biographical introduction when talking about I:Cube. Straddling electro, techno, Chicago house, and probably countless more genres, the French stalwart manages to maintain a revered reputation amongst journalists, fans and promoters, meaning 15 years after we first were introduced his DJ sets are as in demand as ever. Likewise with his production oeuvre, which includes original and remix output on Versatile, Green, Rekids, and Innervisions to name but three.

It’s not often you’ll find him gracing British decks, though one of our favourite small parties have managed to secure said stalwart for their latest intimate shindig. The Idiots Are Winning returns to Old Street’s hedonistic basement haunt, Life, on Saturday 3rd September. In addition the the Gallic guest du jour you can also find Joe 90 and El Harvo representing the respected DJ agency, label and club night, Futureboogie, with residents Jake Manders and Louis Finch laying down the usual foundations. The venue is small, and the bar open all night, so this should be another sell out session meaning paying the advanced door tax might be a good idea to guarantee a spot on the dancefloor. Full details below, with more information here, and tickets available here.
