One of London’s most vivacious female DJ artists, Bahar Canca stamps her authority on the production world with an accomplished debut EP on innovative label and music brand, Sub Bubble.

The Turkish born International DJ’s previous tracks have gained favour from Roger Sanchez, Popof, Jesse Voorn and Dylan Rhymes. For this EP she delivers three tracks serve up funk, tribal and nu skool flavours dripped over melodic feel good soundscapes and intelligent techno bass lines. Drawing from her DJ adventures in London, Brazil, Europe and Africa the vibe follows Sub Bubble’s ethos that’s rooted in the underground, but aimed at a savvy, upbeat and adventurous crowd.

The EP’s maiden track, Groove Me Up, sets the pace with thunderous kick drums ands skin penetrating bass before heading off on a sequence of white noise, Stanley Cubic style synths and rolling rhythms. Fusing inspiration taken from Brazilian festivals, Berlin techno beats and London’s industrial cool its progressive journey creates a captivating and melodious dark-dream like narrative.

Exuding Bahar’s quirky side Joy is a cleanly produced track loaded up with a Teutonic style bass line and fills it full of funk, groove, tribal and metallic sounds. This innovative approach gives it a strangely hypnotic and addictive quality reminiscent of old skool progressive trance but with an energy that smacks it bang up to date and ready for action.

Finally, Fast Cars & Aliens shifts gears upwards once again for a 4am lost-in–the-bubble stomper which struts a killer bass screaming out for a Funktion1 sound system. Multi-layered and exposing a full rage of production and precision armory it’s rich, pulsating technoscapes grips to melancholic trance foundations making it impossible to ignore.
