Chris Cunningham to close this year’s Big Chill Festival.

The Big Chill festival has built a reputation for delivering cutting edge music, not afraid to take things of the beaten track they have played host to some of the most eclectic and visionary artists around, with cutting edge audio visual showcases being at the heart of some of the stages.
Big Chill festival regulars have seen the festival go from intimate boutique status to being one of the leading names on the festival circuit over the last 17 years, and there was fear last year that the festival would lose its edgy independent vibe after being taken over by festival republic. They needn’t feared, with last year’s event delivering all the goods and then some there’s even more to look forward to this year.
Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn said, “Having been at the forefront as a ‘boutique’ event we have put together a programme that reflects The Big Chill’s heritage whilst offering up new and exciting developments for our audiences old and new alike. To be able to offer such well respected and diverse performances, from our headliners to our international artists and breakthrough names is a true pleasure and we are thrilled to be able to evolve the musical content of the festival.”
Already confirmed for this year’s event, which takes place 5th-7th August at Eastnor Deer park (one of the prettiest festival sites we have been too) are Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, 2MnayDJ’s, Katy B, Calvin Harris, Fenech Soler, Four Tet, Luke Vibert and festival favourites Norman Jay and Mr Scruff (with his famous Tea Tent, trust us, the function one sound system they had fitted last year made it the best brew ever).
The latest announcement see’s the addition of a special and rare appearance by the award-wining visionary Chris Cunningham. The cult film-maker, musician, photographer and producer is responsible for some of the most iconic music videos ever made, amongst a myriad of other accomplishments. He has been dubbed ‘Dangerously ahead of his time’ by The Guardian and ‘A startlingly original visual artist’ by The Telegraph. On the back of a sold out show at the Royal Festival Hall in May last year and recent collaborations with Gil Scott-Heron and Grace Jones, Cunningham returns to the stage this summer. He will be closing the Deer Park Stage on Sunday, following the set by headliners Rodrigo y Gabriela. Cunningham will create a sight and sound spectacular, bringing The Big Chill to a close in true style.

Encase you’re wondering what all the Hype is about, here’s a reminder of Cunninghams work:
