One of our favourite Web 2.0 tools is set to get a whole lot more interesting as content becomes available for re-interpretation.
Sound Cloud, the website that sees everyone from A Guy Called Gerald to that guy next door uploading new music, is now offering its users integrated Creative Commons licensing. Regularly used for photography, video and writing, the license allows other users to download content, manipulating and re-using as they see fit.
With over 1 million users, Sound Cloud should expect to build up an archive of licensed audio in a relatively short amount of time. As such, if you’re part of the community get ready for a wealth of tracks ready for a remix in the near future, meaning you shouldn’t be short of weeknight entertainment as the nights start to draw in.
Alexader Ljung, Sound Cloud’s CEO told Music Week: “Partnering with Creative Commons is great for our users and any audio creators I the CC community as we look to build a huge library of these sounds, samples and songs to inspire more new creativity.”
