Detour & LXXIII presents Seasons – Summer 2012
Detour & LXXIII present ‘SEASONS’ // 11 August 2012 at The Blueberry Bar – 2-4 Paul Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 4JH // 2pm – Midnight
Detour has teamed up with LXXIII to create a new quarterly event themed ‘Seasons’ and proudly present our second installment, Summer 2012.
Seasons sets to be something more than your usual daytime party; an exploration between electronic music and live art. We’ll be hosting the latest sounds in techno & house music, crafting a musical journey inspired by the current season Summer 2012. This provides a platform for collaborating visual artists to produce artwork inspired by the music. Each season will be host to new visual artists and fresh ideas, transforming your average Saturday afternoon into something special.
For Summer 2012 we have 3 very special collaborating artists;
Morgan Beringer (video artist):
Morgan Beringer is an American video artist based in London, UK. Having spent his school days gaining degrees in both philosophy and art he found his concern with the unexplored conceptual space between still/moving image. The expressive and experimental possibilities therein inspired an ongoing opus of 64 abstract films that continue to expand his distinct perspective upon the medium. Morgan’s work has featured at galleries, festivals, and events in over ten countries in both commercial and artistic contexts.
Ric Smith (graphic designer / artist);
Ric Smith is a British graphic designer, artist and photographer currently based in East London. As an artist his work explores abstract experimentation across painting, sketches and etching. His most recent series of etches aims at capturing the surreal qualities found within everyday plants and flowers. His photography has seen him travel the world documenting architecture and culture, with an emphasis on the relationships between people and their often unique environments.
Yusuf Gencer (graphic designer / artist):
Yusuf Gencer is a graphic artist and painter, currently living in Ankara, Turkey. He sees drawing and painting as a means of expressing and defining the self. His artwork varies from mixed media collages, installations and sketches, to large scale acrylics on canvas.? Yusuf influences tend to evolve around juxtaposing Eastern and Western values with material and pop culture to achieve abstract and sometimes surreal compositions. ?He has recently been taking place as a contributing artist at “Ankara Design Week” exhibition held annualy.?
