Soul-Identity Midsummer Shakedown Boat Party 2012
After last year’s little sabbatical the boat party is BACK and we’re raring to go. We’ve had some amazing boat parties over the last few years and we aim to continue in the same vein starting with this year’s Midsummer Shakedown Boat Party on Saturday June 23rd 2012.
HOUSIN’ IT OUT ON THE TOP DECK
This year on the upper deck, we’ve got a homage to house past and present with Soul-Identity resident Rob Coley joined on the turntables with not one but two of today’s more in-demand DJs / producers.
NICHOLAS (No More Hits / 4Lux / Needwant)
The 25 year old Italian underground house hero has been a key protagonist in the current revival of a more classic house sound creeping into today’s more discerning dance floors, and his recent compilations ‘Still Playing House’ and last year’s Nu Groove retrospective are drenched in a soulful yet modern take on an early 90′s sensibility. Nicholas will be flying in to London to supply us with an exclusive live interpretation of some of his biggest tracks to date.
DAN BEAUMONT (Jam Factory / Dalston Superstore)
Previously a founding member of Disco Bloodbath, Dan is currently one half of production duo Jam Factory and also proprietor of East London hotspot Dalston Superstore. He can also be found co-hosting the fortnightly Rhythm Connection Radio Show on NTS Radio. Dan’s love of vintage house, italo rarities, vocal disco and new music should set us all in good stead for a proper afternoon of four to the floor goodness.
DOWNSTAIRS ON THE LOWER DECK
Everyone should know about the bottom deck by now. Conga lines, out the hat selections and alcohol induced sporadic dance offs. Yes, the CIGARETTES AND SUNSHINE crew lead proceedings downstairs and will be joined by one of Norwich’s finest selectors RAD DAD (Beatfix). Expect soul, funk, boogie, hip-hop and nuff good time tuneage to make you bounce.
If you’ve been before, you know we do this for the love. Two intimate floors of music on a well-equipped boat (complete with outside sun deck!) allowing you great views the length and breadth of London’s skyline. Once docked we head to a yet undisclosed venue until 12am for the annual after party featuring more hedonistic madness.
