First Word Records presents Excursions with Will LV, Lexis & Gilla at | 12th September
Sat Sep 12 • First Word are back for another installment of their brilliant Excursions Sessions at The CLF Bussey. Soul, Beats, Hip Hop, Jazz and Beyond. First Word Records Founder and Excursions host – the Mighty Gilla joined by one half of new Brownswood Recordings signings LV, as well as Montreal’s finest Lexis from the peerless Music Is My Sanctuary blog.
Will LV
Will Horrocks is one half of production duo LV. Since 2007, LV have released numerous singles and EPs as well as two albums across labels including Hyperdub and Keysound. They’ve also remixed a host of top acts including Nitin Sawhney, Pinch, Zomby, Trim and Portico Quartet. Their bass-fuelled beat-heavy sound has won praise across the globe and has led to their recent signing to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.
Lexis (Music Is My Sanctuary)
Lexis is the man behind acclaimed music blog Music Is My Sanctuary – dedicated to digging for future classics and forgotten treasures. Since founding the blog in 2007 it has become the go-to spot for lovers of next level music from all over the world. He has also created the 24 hours of Vinyl project, a worldwide non-profit event, which has travelled to Paris, Sand Fransisco, Vancouver and more. Over the past few years he has shared stages with the likes of Theo Parrish, Gilles Peterson, EZ, Floating Points, Kaytranada and more. Expect an eclectic selection bound to keep the dancefloor bouncing all night long.
Gilla (First Word Records You and Music Radio)
Gilla is the man behind First Word Records, home to Tall Black Guy, Souleance, Yosi Horikawa, Essa and more. A regular at The Bussey Building, his sets take in beats, soul, hip hop, jazz and beyond.
Event is part of Welcome To Busseywood and runs from 10pm – 5am Admission £57 Adv from RA or £7 OTD with free entry to 2 more floors. Level 2: Hawaiian Bop retrolicous 40’s to 60’s sessions. Level 3: Honey Hush Dynamite ska, boss reggae, rockin’ blues, Two Tone and (One step)
