Sat Nov 18 – Get ready to get your soul deep fried and battered as your The South London Soul Train host Jazzheadchronic welcomes hot DJ Boca 45 and the positively stage destroying good time afro funk latin warriors Lakuta + more across 3 floors and 4 rooms at The CLF Art Cafe.
LAKUTA:
Lakuta are a musical collective founded by Cicely Taylor in Brighton. The British-based band have heritage from Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Malaysia, Spain and the UK.
Drawing on their backgrounds in jazz, funk, soul and world music to create a modern sound, Lakuta’s highly danceable mix of Afrobeat, Funk and Latino grooves has led them to tour extensively, headlining stages at The Southbank Centre, Glastonbury Festival, Latitude Festival and many more + we truly can’t wait to welcome them to the SLST Live stage.
Then on Level 2 The men with a serious plan The Mighty DJ Snowboy & Ben Gibson drop more Soul and Funk Beasts on 45 direct to the whole ah you soul. The heaviest vinyl cuts – hittin’ like rain for daze – dance like thunder. Soul-Brellas highly recommended.
Level 2 / Room 2 – S’all about too damn hot SLST residents – Mukatsuku records Founder, the outstanding Nik Weston and long standing partner, the ridiculously talented DJ Huw 72 take you on another sublime gloablistic Safari across planet groove.
The SLST 3 floor, 4 room Line up completed in the Basement by DJs from the highly influential First Word & Wah Wah 45 record labels. Here to deliver a smorgasbord of palatable soul joints from the flip and love side. Funk to Soul, Disco to Boogie, Then to Now. Always on point! Absolutely, Positively, Taste. T.
