Bank Holiday weekend starts with a bang as we return from our hiatus with an action packed bill of Afro and Tropical beats to warm you up for Notting Hill Carnival, leaving you all of Saturday to recuperate before it all kicks off on Sunday. Sure to be the best Kartel yet, don’t sleep!
Ever since hearing his 2014 debut LP Tayi Bebba, it has been an ambition of Kartel to showcase Italian producer Clap! Clap!. His sound is the perfect match for a Kartel dancefloor – a mixture of West African musicality, funk and drum power with the weight and impact of club production and engineering. Joining Clap! Clap! is long term Kartel family duo The Busy Twist, who continue to establish themselves in the heart of the scene with recent appearances on Rinse FM, and after shutting down Glastonbury Festival. Their sound is party dynamite, a true fusion of of flavoursome melody and funk from West Africa with extracts from the global underground; UKFunky to Kuduro, Highlife to Soukous, Baile Funk and beyond.
Rising star of radio (and online TV!) Tash LC has only been around 2 years and already she’s bagged a regular show on Worldwide FM, a residency at Radar (radio and events), and is now a professional touring DJ. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, come and find out why as Tash blends all manner of global beats such as Gqom, Moombaton, Kuduro, Baile Funk with ease and playfulness (a Baile Funk edit of Barbie Girl, for instance). All whilst holding crowds in the palm of her hand.
With tactical support from Do Dat Den and Moto who will fill the gaps to ensure that all Kartel bases are covered as promised, and the usual homemade visuals and Kartel décor, and most importantly that special vibe.
