Your SLST host JAZZHEADCHRONIC + a collective of some of the UK’s leading funk, soul and eclectic vinyl slinging turntablists [TBA] present a ‘These Are The Breaks Special’. Celebrating and representing the much ‘sampled’ original sounds of funk, soul, jazz & disco that paved the way for and are the cornerstones / foundations of the musical movements and sounds of Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Breakbeat, Big Beat, Acid Jazz, Jungle + so much more at The SLST at The CLF Art Cafe.
The original rarer crate dug and heavily sampled sounds of James Brown to Roy Ayers, Marvin Gaye to Kool & The Gang, Isaac Hayes to Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Al Green, Michael Jackson, Funkadelic & Fred Wesley + The JBs to the rarer sounds of Labi Siffre, Quincy Jones, Lowrell, The Meters, Cymande, The Bar-Kays, Baby Huey, Ramp & Carly Simon – rinsed, explored and delivered without mercy all night long on level 1.
Then on level 2 let the Funk Mercilessly Flow as your 2nd floor hosts SNOWBOY & IAN WRIGHT drop the absolute finest on 45 direct to the torchlit dancefloor.
Level 3 – t’s THE HAWAIIAN BOP TRIP – Hawaiian Bop Djs RICHIO SUZUKI & OSCAR ROMP + Special Guest JEFF THE FISH taking you on a strictly retrolicious Rock & Roll, 50’s R N’ B, 60’s Soul & Motown, Vintage Ska & Latin journey from the love side. Aloha baby!
The SLST 4 Floor Line up completed in the Rye Wax Basement – by new SLST residents – REACH UP DISCO WONDERLAND hosted by The legendary DJ ANDY SMITH + Special guests dropping 80’s boogie, disco and photo house, evoking the spirit and dipping into the soundtrack of legendary NYC clubs such as ‘Paradise Garage’ & ‘Studio 54’.
