Beulah – Merry Christmas
Gospel singer/song writing Beulah has had a craving for music her whole life. As a young child, her father would take her to see Indian musicals at the Olympia Cinema Hall in her hometown of Sapele, Delta State. At home she would play her Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong records, whic later led to discovering artists such as Cece Winans, Nicole Mullen, Darlene Zschech, Micheal W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Israel Houghton, various African gospel artists
From primary school onwards, Beulah sang in groups and represented her class, school and eventually her state in music and dance competitions. She loved music so much that she would carry a radio cassette player with her to the school where she worked as a trainee teacher, recording herself singing and playing her songs to the other students.
After graduating from university, the graduate banker joined the choirs in her local church and at the bank. “As much I tried to leave music for other professions, it has never left me,” she says. ‘Music journeyed along with me.’
In her own words Beaulah explains ‘Like many other gospel songs, my songs clearly affirm and celebrate the Lordship of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’
