Ministry of Sound Celebrates Its 19th Birthday!

Since 1991 Ministry of Sound has become synonymous with high-quality, groundbreaking style and the very best night out in London and now, 19 years since the Elephant and Castle-based club opened its doors, it will be celebrating in typical MoS style with the 19th Birthday Weekender.

The 19th Birthday Weekender will run over three consecutive days offering over twenty four dedicated hours of unforgettable partying. The 17th, 18th and 19th September will see dozens of DJ’s play the Gaunt Street club with global superstar headliners…

The Ministry of Sound brand, which has now grown to incorporate the hugely successful record labels Hed Kandi, Euphoria and Hard2Beat, rocketed to worldwide fame and acclaim as a premier house music expert. It did this, in part, by bringing the world of American house music from New York, Detroit and Chicago to British shores. Ministry of Sound can undoubtedly be attributed with the huge popularity boost in house music in the UK in the past twenty years and for its 19th Birthday the club will be revisiting the genre with old and new.

It seems fitting that the headline act on the Saturday will be Danny Tenaglia, the Grammy-nominated house and techno producer who will play his first UK set in over six years to mark the occasion. Not only that but the set will last a whopping eight hours in the legendary Box at Ministry of Sound! Tenaglia symbolises where Ministry of Sound and house music began some twenty years ago and has been crafting brilliantly original sounds and playing infamously intimate sets as long as Ministry of Sound has been around. The marriage of the legendary DJ and the legendary club will make for a special night indeed.

As a regular of every big club under the sun, most notably Space Ibiza, the Brooklyn-born DJ and producer will look to mark his UK comeback at Ministry of Sound’s 19th Birthday Bash with an unforgettable mix of classic tracks and fresh floorfillers. Joining Tenaglia on the Saturday will be, (in 103 Spacestation) The Revenge, Villa and Cosmonauts playing an eclectic mix alongside Tenaglia’s epic eight hour set if you fancy a change or a wander.

But before that, the Friday night of Ministry of Sound’s three day weekender birthday celebration will see one of the newer faces of house music, a global house DJ, Ferry Corsten play at the club. Friday will go from 10.30pm until 6am giving you a decent morning’s (and afternoon’s) sleep before heading back on Saturday night for Danny Tenaglia. Supporting Corsten on Friday night will be Solarstone and The Viceroy with Gavyn Mytchell, Steve Lee, Lee and Slater and Jodie Lucas in the 103 Spacestation.

The third and final day of the 19th Birthday Weekender at Ministry of Sound kicks off at 2pm Sunday with Nina Kraviz, Giles Smith and James Priestley playing the Terrace. You can choose to carry on partying or chill out and recover from the epic Friday and Saturday night celebrations.

The whole event kicks off at 10.30pm on Friday 17th September. Early Bird tickets are all gone but there are a few advance tickets left. Ministry of Sound 19th Birthday Party will celebrate the club’s fine history right through until 7am Sunday Morning.
