Sankeys Manchester roles out with a bang…

Because it is such an international operation nowadays, Sankeys Manchester closes in summer so the tram can focus on operations out in Ibiza. It’s a wise move, because most club nights take a break over summer anyway, what with the fact that so many people go away on holiday, students return home and festivals have never been more popular.

As such and after a great first few months to the year that has seen everyone from Moodymann to Greg Wilson to Danny Tenaglia play, tonight it comes to a close with a party featuring Amine Edge & DANCE, who have built a close relationship with Sankeys and in fact host one of the residencies out in Ibiza.

When we arrive a healthy contingent has already turned out to celebrate this mini closing and the club is already bouncing to the warm beats of the warm up DJ. The club’s soundsystem is a fine thing indeed, wit every h hat crisp as ice and every bass drop warm, full and chest rattling. The crowd are all dressed up in b-boy caps, hip hop styled clothes and hi tops, somewhat in keeping with the so called g house sound offered up by the French headliners.

Before those two bad boys take to the main room booth though, electro house man Finnebassen and emergent UK house star Dale Howard offer up fun and functional beats that mix the classic tunes with more contemporary selections, and it makes for a great atmosphere.

When Amine Edge & DANCE step up, the crowd surges forwards, the music gets sleazy, with rapped vocals, dirty basslines and truly funky percussion driving the night along. Plenty of their own tunes and jams of their upcoming CUFF compilation get dropped and it’s clear to see why these lads have been given their own night in Ibiza.

It might be the end for now, but leaving people with such a good vibe and great party is only sure to mean they will be back and more eager than ever come the new season in September. Sankeys is 20 years old now, but is still as exciting and vital as ever, as this party proved once more.
