It feels like Christmas come late (or remarkably early?) this week as we unveil the first imprint insight of 2014, with a particular Plain & Simple favourite in the driving seat. Long have we given positive nods to his organisation’s output, as such this is something of a working pleasure.
So Guy J has consistently impressed us with his Lost and Found label, with the internationally acclaimed Israeli DJ and producer releasing some fine cuts on the Bedrock-affiliated platform since it was established in 2012, from meaty rollers to melodic mood builders, from names such as Kevin Yost, Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z. As such everyone in the office was keen to hear how he goes about business, hence the reason why decided to ask him a few questions- the answers to which can be found below.

Describe your imprint’s output.
Simply good house music with no focus on one particular sub-genre.
What would you say makes it different?
There are well known artists next to unknown artists, Tech House next to Progressive, Techno next to Deep – one label, many directions.
What is it that makes you keep looking for new talent to expose?
I started out, obviously, as new talent and the support I got from established people helped me get where I am now, so I’m trying to do the same for the next wave.
What’s the label’s pinnacle achievement so far?
We just released the first “Found” project, where artists can present their work in the form of a mini-album. Navar from Holland has produced the first one in the series and it features 5 beautiful pieces of music. This is an example of the label being able to give a lot of attention to not yet so well known artists who are really super-talented.
If people were going to hear one release from your camp, what would you prefer it to be?
I think the first release – Lost & Found – reflects what the label is about. Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z also did an amazing job on the remix and made it very colourful and musical.
