The London Disco Society Top Ten!

London Disco SOciety copy

The London Disco Society are very much in demand at present, with DJ bookings all over the place and of course their own parties.

Ahead of their visit to the excellent new intimate Soho basement venue Bitter Sweet this Thursday 17 October, rather than conduct an interview, we asked them to provide us with their top ten disco gems instead (complete with youtube links!). This was not an easy task by all accounts, as Jake Evans (aka Naked Jake) points out, “This was really hard for me and Rory (Cordz) just picking 10 between us. Could easily have done a top 50.”

And if you have witnessed them DJ or attended any of their parties you know this is the truth. Delivering sets packed with disco classics and nu disco bombs to obscure 80’s electro, they really do immerse themselves in the sound and it is no wonder you find yourself mysteriously drawn to the dancefloor with a perma grin on your face.

Check these out for yourself and why not take a peek this Thursday at Bitter Sweet just off Carnaby Street, as they will be playing from 8pm and FREE entry to boot (details below).

1. Yarborough & Peoples – Don’t Stop The Music
Cordz – “The rhythm of the bassline matched with vocals that just cut straight through you, it’s a beauty. A lot of meaning to the lyrics too, I feel the message! ;-)”

2. Peter Jacques Band – All Right Let’s Go (Alkalino Rework)
Naked Jake – “I love the original too but this Alkalino Rework is a bit more upbeat. Always goes down a storm on the dancefloor.”

3. Chemise – She Can’t Love You
Naked Jake – “This tune is actually partly responsible for the birth of The London Disco Society, I got hooked on it and decided I wanted to be a Disco DJ”

4. Sister Sledge – Thinking of You (Dimitri From Paris Edit)
Cordz – “A great re-rub of an already fantastically arranged tune…one of my favourite Chic grooves with that little extra touch from the Frenchman. Feel good vibes.”

5. Rene & Angela – I’ll Be Good
Naked Jake – “This one puts you in the zone every time, great video too, don’t know about that tiger pattern blazer though”

6. Giorgio Moroder – I Wanna Rock You
Cordz – “No one makes music like Giorgio Moroder, even today. I don’t think its possible not to want to move to this one.”

7. Candi Staton – Nights On Broadway
Cordz – “Originally a Bee Gees track, but personally I think Candi’s adaptation takes the prize…that voice. There’s a wicked edit of this by Rayko too.”

8. Fatback Band – I Found Lovin’ (Fingerman’s Classic Edit)
Naked Jake – “This edit takes the classic on a slighter deeper journey. Love the subtle Goblin samples in the intro from Suspiria”

9. Radiance feat. Andrea Stone – You’re my Number 1
Cordz – “Funky number.  Works its magic on the dance floor.”

10. Ronnie Dyson – All Over Your Face
Naked Jake – “Dancing to this one makes you feel invincible, untouchable. So does most Disco to be honest but not quite on this level”
