Dimitri from Paris @ Egg London – 21st September

Arguably the smartest dressed performer in dance music, Dimitri from Paris was Egg Londons headliner this past Saturday. Known for his suave persona and energetic disco ethos, Dimitri brandishes London as one his favourite spots to play. Residing in Paris as you would have probably guessed from his name, Dimitri has had one hell of a summer, being on tour in the US and hitting the new Booom club in Ibiza, its been none stop the groovy spinner. Egg themselves have showcased a fantastic September so far with San Soda, Locked Groove and Victor Calderone to name a few already hitting the highs with mind blowing sets.

Upon walking in we were hit with an immediate crowd reaction from the supporting cast that was DJ Pierre, portraying a sublime mix behind the decks. The Chicago native, famous for his acid house vibes was blending a very cultural old school set. But not one to rest on his laurels mingled in the older cuts with some fresher edits. My highlights from his selection were ‘Pennies from Heaven’ and ‘Night Writers’ which garnered such a positive reaction from the beloved audience. It was easy to recognise why the club have insisted on bringing him back in November.

Tonight however was all about Dimitri. The legend that has been recently working on new Eurocrats productions entered the booth as smart as ever. He followed perfectly from DJ Pierre and took the faithful onlookers on a finely tuned disco trip. The Defected stalwart intertwined some epic anthems onto the main room. Its worth pointing out that with the new dance floor in place and tightly knit lighting systems it married perfectly with the punchy stackers. This all added to the fray and offered the evening an all round thumbs up.

Dimitri, known for his impeccable attitude even stuck around to hang with the fans and have a drink with the crew to show his appreciation. Egg have been on a serious role really with some stand out soirees and moving into Halloween, its certainly no different. Boddika, Nice7 and Dense and Pika are all booked in for huge shows so its certainly worth checking, not for a fright but to cut loose.
