Connected are re-housing themselves at the excellent Lightbox following the sad closure of their regular home Cable. It’s a more than able replacement though, known for its floor to ceiling covering of LEDs, intimate atmosphere and great sound system. The headliners are DC10 legend Clive Henry and Frenchman Julien Chaptal, whilst the usual on point selection of residents also play.
Few people have had the impact on the house scene that has Londoner Clive Henry. First it was the chunky house sounds of Peace Division alongside Justin Drake that earned him a worthy reputation, but now he’s very much a solo tour de force both in the studio and in the DJ booth. Pushing oneself is something Clive has done studiously since the end of Peace Division. Key to that is his long running residency at Ibiza’s king of clubs, DC: 10, for the Circo Loco night. It’s there he plays alongside the underground’s finest spinners, joining the dots between deep house, techno funk and considered grooves.
Born and raised in Paris, Julien Chaptal moved to Amsterdam around the turn of the century. There he witnessed the local scene grow to staggering heights, as he himself steadily developed from a local hero to the internationally acclaimed artist he is today. From the moment Chaptal first arrived in Holland’s capital, he worked very hard at becoming a professional producer. Mixing bands and DJs at night as an audio engineer, he used his days to further perfect his own musical style and technique on labels like 100% Pure, 2020Vision, Suara and many others.
Also joining the fun will be Krankbrother. Danny Clancy and Kieran Clancy are the founders, organisers and resident DJs at Krankbrother. Evolving from a private party in Corsica Studios, the last couple of years have seen them develop Krankbrother into one of the most cutting edge parties in the capital, as well as now being an equally exciting DJ duo of the same name.
Events take place on Saturday August 10th at Lightbox, Vauxhall. More information on the fan page.
