Acid District – Depends [Eklektisch]
After an assured debut on the Spanish label Soruba, Acid District get picked out by Edu Imbernon as the next pair to release on his ever impressive Eklektisch label. The two track EP shows them to be a duo – form Murcia – who have a great appreciation of house old and new.
First track Depends is a deep and slow burning affair with a monstrous synth line writhing about like a snake from start to finish amongst sandy hi hats. The remix comes from ever-prolific German legend Tiger Stripes who breaks up the beats a bit and makes the track more suited to after party listening. Finally, the other original is Keep On Searching which pairs trippy and space out synths with well weight and raw kick and percussion combos. It’s moody and dynamic and announces the arrival of a duo well worth watching in the future – of course, the EP also marks another A&R masterstroke for Edu.
