We Are Modeselektor – A Film By Romi Agel And Holger Wick

Have you ever wondered what a couple of German DJ/Producer/Mayhem Pedlar’s get up to on an average day? Well, you’re about to find out as Modeselektor release a feature length ‘warts and all’ documentary; capturing a bond of friendship so beautiful, it rivals Del Boy and Rodney, or Sienfeld and George Constanza.

We Are ModeselektorThe film was produced and directed by Romi Agel and Holger Wick respectively, the film makers promise “a post-German reunification movie, a travel report, and a portrait of the special friendship between Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary all in one”. The film features moments from Techno superstar Ellen Allien and Apparat, the other half of Moderat – a collaboration co-dreamed and produced with Modeselektor.

Focusing on real life grit, humble beginnings and the development of their career the film makers have avoided the Rock’n’Roll vibe entirely. This is a biographical documentary created to “display the Modeselektor cosmos in the most authentic way possible”.

The film is chock full of everyday adventures and clips from as far back as the 90‘s. Having co-worked in such a creative bubble from the start meant that there was always someone around to capture the daily japes on camera. This myriad of golden footage proved to be invaluable material for the doco.

At the beginning of the ’90s, nobody would have thought that Modeselektor would be that successful. But for some reason they appeared on some friend’s cameras all the time.”

The film is due for release May 3rd through Monkeytown Records, by the following week it will have been splattered across Europe in a host of public screenings. This includes a broadcast at the pair’s show at London’s Roundhouse this month.
