Acid House Anthems 3CD release – 25th Anniversary of acid house

acid

Released to mark the 25th anniversary of the birth of acid house this album encompasses everything that is good and pure. It is the celebration of a historical time in Great Britain. A time when Thatcher proclaimed, “there is no such thing as society” and society stood defiantly united, arm in arm, softly gurning and murmuring, “I know we only just met, but think I love you”.

Acid house was the UK’s most influential youth culture phenomenon since punk, a collision between man, technology and chemistry. The ‘second summer of love’ left an indelible mark upon music, society, fashion and art.

These hedonistic times have been written into music folklore; following trips to Ibiza in 1987, a loose collective of newly enlightened British youths decided to transport the Ibiza-style acid house soundtrack and ‘ecstatic’ vibe back to the UK.  Parties and clubs began to pop up including Shoom, Future, Spectrum, RiP Clink Street and ‘Hot’ & ‘Nude’ at The Hacienda in Manchester. These nights became the stuff of legend.

Across 3 CDs, Acid House Anthems captures the essence of this era. Classic US house, acid and early techno tracks rub shoulders with Balearic anthems. Take yourself back to the days when Ecstasy was pure and life was simple.
