Sixty Beats In Sixty Minutes!

Veteran Underground House Music Producer and respected online educator Danny J Lewis has set himself a mountain of a challenge; to create sixty unique drumloops in sixty minutes, collecting money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Using Native Instruments’ Maschine Drum Machine in standalone mode, Danny will create each beat from scratch in a live broadcast. The criteria? At least four separate one shot drum sounds, programmed into a beat on the fly – a minimum of one bar in length. Danny will start with loop 1 and will save a number against each subsequent loop created. All loops created will be made available for download and usage in your own productions – keep an eye out on the live broadcast for the number of the loop you like in order to identify it later. This is a pure endurance exercise that will test the limits of Danny’s creative ability.

The event will be broadcast in high quality audio and video from Point Blank Music School in Hoxton, London. Their high tech streaming suite has been used to broadcast live events recently featuring big names such as Eats Everything, Shadow Child (Dave Spoon) and many more. You will clearly see the software used on the mac and witness the programming techniques that are being used as they happen. There will also be cameras filming the hardware and Danny whilst he creates the beats.

The broadcast is scheduled for 1600HRS GMT on Friday 1st February 2013 on the Point Blank youtube channel – and will be archived for viewing at any time after the event.

This is a unique and exciting event where audience participation will be encouraged. If you are online you can send words of encouragement and even suggest genres and types of beat for creation – he’s going to need all the help he can get!

Danny hopes to raise £1000 for Great Ormond Street and you can donate online safely through Virgin Money Giving –
