MYR14D – On My Mind.

Get Some introduce yet another newcomer to the UK Bass scene in the shape of the mysterious MYR14D aka Oliver Keogh. Hailing from Buckinghamshire, Keogh has crafted a debut EP of accomplished club-focused tracks that touch upon a wide array of moods and sounds palettes that play a part in any well-formed DJ set.

The EP opens up with the title track On My Mind, a slow-burning house number that patiently progresses to a drop of 808 claps and hi-hats that show the technical dexterity and maturity for a producer in such an early stage in his career.

Stay 4 Me takes things up a notch with a thumping 4/4 beat pattern and infectious vocal sample being the tracks’ focal points. Being slightly more rough and ready than the lead track, Stay 4 Me comes into its own with the addition of a rambunctious bassline and blissful psychedelic synth lines at the halfway point that give the cut an extra dimension.

Rounding things off is Raven – the off-kilter effort which takes its cues from the IDM stylings of Nathan Fake and Border Community. Its  quirky melodies and unconventional song structure indicate that there’s a great deal more to come from Get Some’s latest find who has just added yet another prized gem to the label’s growing discography.
