East Village Announce 5th Birthday Line Up

Q1(Final)

QUENTIN HARRIS RETURNS TO EAST VILLAGE TO HEADLINE THEIR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

When Stuart Patterson moved into Shoreditch and set up East Village, you just knew that the venue that only holds around 500 people, would be punching high above its weight with the level of artists that would be passing through.

The small club with big ideas aimed to bring some of the World’s finest DJs to play in smaller surroundings than normal, and you would say they succeeded when you think the following superstars have all been tucked into their excellent basement booth – Carl Craig, Jus Blaze, Derrick Carter, Chase+Status, Eryka Badhu, Skream, Kerri Chandler, Maseo (De La Soul), Juan Atkins, Goldie, Maya Jane Coles, Gilles Peterson, Channel One, Benga, DJ Sneak, Norman Jay, Spen & Karizma, Jazzie B, Joe Claussel, Jackmaster, Greg Wilson, Aba Shanti-I, Danny Krivit, Fabio, Timmy Regisford, David Rodigan and Quentin Harris – not a bad achievement at all!

With their 5th birthday weekend running from Thursday 31 January to Sunday 3 February, the last two on the list return with Rodigan at Rootikal on the 1st and Quentin Harris headlining the main event on  the 2nd. Both of these artists have graced the East Village decks in the past with Rodigan one of the original Rootikal residents and Quentin Harris hosting his incredible Kiss My Black Ass parties at the venue, nights that have gone down in East Village folk law!

For the weekend as a whole, their main aim we are told by Stuart Patterson “was to present a wide and diverse programme encompassing the rich musical talent that London had to offer”. I certainly agree, as you will find dubstep rumblings from Uprise Audio on Thursday 31st, the reggae runnins’ of Rootikal on Friday 1st, the house and disco get down on Saturday 2nd and the new weekly d&b session Hi-Fi on the 3rd.

It is just a shame that some of the clubs favourite nights such as Inner Rhythm, The Doctors Orders, Shiftless Shuffle or any of the great Saturday night house and techno parties couldn’t be included, but when you see the full line up below, it’s not all bad.
